Unite, the union, is seeking an urgent meeting with NHS managers after reports that 600 jobs in Liverpool could face the axe over the next five years.
Reports of a public meeting of the board of The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust that the jobs across the trust could go were described as “a bolt from the blue”.
Unite regional officer Steve Power said: “We need to confirm exactly was what said at the meeting as the trust has made no public announcement on these job losses.
“This has come as a bolt from the blue and Unite, along with other unions, will be seeking discussions with management. Unite will be campaigning strongly to defend our members’ jobs and the services they provide to the public".
