Money Management for residents affected by welfare reform

Bury residents are invited to attend money management workshops to help them cope with changes to the benefits system.

The one-day sessions are free of charge and take place across the borough, offering practical guidance on budgeting, spending, saving and protecting money from fraud.

Experts from Barclays Bank and the Citizens Advice Bureau will be on hand to give top tips on managing money, housing and career progression.

The sessions have been organised by Bury Council, Six Town Housing and landlords from the public, private and third sectors.

Councillor Sandra Walmsley, cabinet member for communities and community safety, said: “Welfare reform is hitting thousands of local people, which means they have to budget even more carefully and make their money go further. This is an excellent opportunity for residents to receive expert advice about managing their money.”
