Better connected preview 1: adult social care

Socitm Insight has produced a summary of reviewers' comments on the quality of presentation of adult social care services on UK council websites.

This has been published ahead of the launch of Better connected 2013, the latest edition of the annual survey of all council websites published on 1 March.

The summary can be found at: http://www.socitm.net/info/214/socitm_insight/179/better_connected_2013

Summaries concerning six other local authority service areas will be published on a weekly basis over the next six weeks

The reviewers' comments describe the overall experience of finding out about getting help at home from the websites of all authorities that provide adult social care. This meant finding answers to questions like: 'What help is available for personal care needs?', 'What are the eligibility criteria for receiving personal care services?', 'Is the assessment process for requesting help at home explained?' and 'Is it clear how assistance can be obtained if required?'.

The Better connected report for 2013 will be published on 1 March on Socitm's website, and can be accessed free of charge by any employee of a council that subscribes to Socitm Insight. A list of subscribers is published at http://www.socitm.net/info/214/socitm_insight/91/.

Non-subscribers can buy a copy of the printed report, available from https://wwwsocitm.net/forms/form/83/better_connected_2013_snapshot_of_local_authority_websites
