Sporting Events Bill - Final stage impact assessment

Sporting Events Bill - Memorandum from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to the Delegated Powers and Regulatory Reform Committee

Details

The Sporting Events Bill delivers on the government’s 2024 manifesto commitment to deliver international events with pride, to seek new opportunities where we can, creating a legacy to inspire the next generation of talent while promoting exercise and healthy living.

At its core, the bill will establish a UK-wide, event-agnostic framework to enable the UK government and devolved governments to meet common binding guarantees required by rights holders for major sporting events, such as the UEFA EURO 2028 Football Championships and the 2035 FIFA Women’s World Cup, should our bid be successful.
