The Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner wrote to HM Chief Inspector Andy Cooke on 5 October 2023 about the use of police powers to retain biometrics for those arrested for serious offences, under section 63G of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE 1984).
