Doug Gurr confirmed as the new Chair of the CMA

Doug Gurr is now the permanent chair of the CMA following an open competition for the role

Doug Gurr has today [Friday 27 February 2026} been confirmed as the new chair of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

He will lead the CMA for a five year term, continuing the work he undertook as intermin chair, to boost growth and business confidence while ensuring consumers remain protected - all delivered in partnership with CMA Chief Executive Sarah Cardell,
