Synopsis: This conference focuses on developing effective Action Planning to change practice following an incident, clinical audit, risk management issue or quality improvement initiative. Action planning is a key tool in implementing national policy and recommendations into practice, it is essential following the Francis Inquiry, and Government Response that when a issue is identified that accountability and improvement follows as a result.

Developing your skills in action planning and having a sound knowledge of the tools available is an essential tool to change practice. Action plans are a key component of successful project management enabling you to summaries how your objectives will be met including detail on who is responsible and the target date. The conference opens with a step by step guide to action planning and action Logs to develop your skills in action planning and management and continues with a board level perspective on action planning and board assurance. This will be followed by a focus on motivating clinical teams to change and improve. An extended session will look at accountability, risk and action planning ensuring action plans are written and used appropriately to learn lessons from a clinical incident or identified risk issue. This interactive session will feature a hands on group exercise in action planning. The conference closes focusing on how action plans can be used in clinical audit and Improvement and then delivering integrated action plans and change across organisations.
