Public Sector Event
Sure Start and Early Years
Venue: Hotel Ibis London Earls Court
Date: 19 Sep 2013
Synopsis: Delivering Standards and Affordability
Details:
This conference will provide Sure Start, children’s centres and early years’ managers up to date insight into the financial and regulatory targets for providers, individual managers and staff development.
It will provide examples of best practice and help leaders adapt to a time of change. There are specific sessions for leaders to assess their own skills and the development needs of their staff, plus free exhibition points for “staff development surgeries, professional advice and business advice†throughout the day.
Childcare for children under 5 remains a critical policy priority area for government, with significant change being implemented in a time of austerity. Two year olds’ assessment is being implemented bringing new challenges, while economic models for childcare are altered and new providers encouraged.
Ambitious new objectives for 2 year olds have been introduced and rules for childcare simplified. New childminding players, such as child minder agencies, are coming into what is increasingly intended as an “active†market. Plus 4000 new health visitor posts are being created. And specific programmes for difficult or troubled families are being rolled out.
This conference will:
Provide managers and leaders with insight and advice on meeting the demands of new assessments for 2 year olds
Provide you with advice on person and staff development
Hear about the Early Years Teaching Centre Projects
Look at coping with the changing funding sources for child care and the changing “market†and pilot child minder agencies
Explore how to mobilise resources from other services - health, housing associations, employers
Look at “co funding models†and co- production ideas being rolled out in childcare and development and how to create enough places by Sept 2013
Dealing with “difficult conversations†with parents
Troubled and difficult families’ strategies and overlaps
