Preparing For and Learning From The New CQC Inspections in Hospitals
Venue: ICO Conference Centre
22 Berners Street
London
W1T 3DD
Date: 8 Jul 2014
Synopsis: This conference, chaired by Rona McCandish National Professional Advisor to the Care Quality Commission, aims through national updates and the experiences of NHS Trusts who have experienced inspection, to provide a practical guide to preparing for and learning from the new Care Quality Commission inspections in hospitals.
Details:
Sir Mike Richards, Chief Inspector of Hospitals at the Care Quality Commission recently stated that “The aim of the new CQC inspections is to inspect all acute NHS hospital Trusts/FTs by December 2015 and to assess 5 key questions: is a Trust is safe, effective, caring, responsive to patients’ needs and well-led. ...We have now published reports on eight trusts following our new-style inspections. The larger teams and the involvement of more clinical specialists and members of the public is giving us a good picture of what care looks like across these large and complex organisations…our reports show a mixed picture of care, but I am particularly leased that we have seen good examples of care, even in hospitals where the overall findings have not been positive. I want hospitals to learn from each other to help them improve their services and we will continue to highlight good practice where we find it.”
