Developing Effective Cancer Survivorship Services
Venue: Hallam Conference Centre
44 Hallam Street
London
W1W 6JJ
Date: 5 Dec 2014
Synopsis: This conference focuses on cancer survivorship, improving outcomes for people living with and beyond cancer. Through national updates and practical case studies the conference aims to support you to develop effective cancer survivorship support and services.
Details:
“There are now almost 1.8 million people living in England who have had a diagnosis of cancer. This will increase to 3 million by 203015 as more people are diagnosed with cancer, treatment becomes more effective and people live longer after a cancer diagnosis. Evidence shows that many of these cancer survivors have unmet needs, particularly at the end of primary treatment, whilst others are struggling with consequences of treatment that could be either avoided or managed. The current system is failing to meet existing needs, and faces challenges in expanding sufficiently to support the increasing number of cancer survivors. Changing the way we support cancer survivors is therefore both an outcomes priority and a financial priority: simply doing more of the same will not deliver the outcome improvements we want."
