Children Missing Education Conference
Tuesday 29th November 2016 – Central London
With changes to statutory duties imminent, after the Department for Education’s consultation into more effective and efficient ways to improve communication and coordination between schools and local authorities, Capita Conferences’ Children Missing Education Conference is poignantly timed.
Following concerns from Ofsted surrounding ‘the failure of local authorities to address the problem of children missing from education and to satisfy themselves that these children are not being exposed to harm, exploitation or the risk of falling under the influence of extremist views’, this conference explores early intervention and prevention strategies to reduce unsanctioned non-attendance and improve safeguarding practices.
Key topics include:
- Tracking and monitoring children missing education (CME)
- Responding to the vulnerabilities of particular groups including those more vulnerable to sexual exploitation or radicalisation and children from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) communities
- Assuring quality and responding to the growing trend of Elective Home Education (EHE)
- Working with police and partners to share information and enhance safeguarding procedures
