Making improvements to any organisation is challenging especially when it involves changes to the way staff work.  But done properly it can deliver huge benefits in efficiency, productivity, cost reduction and reducing the demand on resources. 

North Yorkshire County Council took up the challenge to turn NYCC into a modern council through the adoption of smarter ways of working.  This involved optimising the use of property, enabling efficient ways of working by getting the right technology and systems in place and, most importantly, by bringing our staff with us on the journey.  

Our programme has been recognised as one of the best.  The 2017 Civil Service The Way We Work Awards recognised us with the Judges Special Award.  The judges felt that this special award acknowledges the council’s excellent facilities, which were way ahead of the other nominations.
