Details:
Schools have an essential role to play when considering child on child online abuse and other reported online safety concerns. Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022 (KCSIE 2022) comes into force in September 2022 and the guidance has been strengthened to ensure that online safety is clearly viewed as part of the schools statutory safeguarding responsibilities. As such, it should be addressed in all relevant school policies and cover the key areas of risk.
The DSL has overall responsibility for online safety, and whilst they can be supported by deputies and other senior members of staff this cannot be delegated. According to KCSIE 2022 the DSL needs to show they have undertaken appropriate training or support to fully understand online risks.
KCSIE 2022 recommends an annual review by the DSL into their school’s approach to online safety.
If you have any specific questions, then you can email these into your trainers prior to the Masterclass.
Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads should attend.
