Working Effectively with your TA

Venue: Online

Date: 8 Feb 2023

Synopsis: This one-day virtual masterclass will support you in auditing the use of Teaching Assistants in your classrooms. You will be able identify areas for improvement to ensure that you are maximising the potential of this valuable resource in the school workforce.

Details:

The number of Teaching Assistants in schools continues to rise with the current headcount being over 275,800 FTE, marking a 3.9% increase in the last year alone. With Teaching Assistants now making up 3 in 10 of the whole school workforce, ensuring that they are deployed effectively is critical to ensuring a positive impact on attainment outcomes and the classroom environment.

With new national guidance expected on the use of Teaching Assistants who work with pupils with SEND as part of the overall SEND Review, this is an area for focus in the 2022/23 academic year. Teaching Assistants will be crucial in supporting the implementation of the outcomes of the SEND Review.

Join us for this one-day Masterclass for an in depth look at best practice with it comes to deploying Teaching Assistants in the classroom. You will be able to identify the benefits of different models of deployment and the day-to-day role of the Teaching Assistant, especially in relation to pupils with SEND. You will also come away with detailed information about the current national guidance so that you understand expectations and requirements.

Heads of Year, SENCOs, Assistant and Deputy Heads and any other staff who wish to focus on effective use of Teaching Assistants should attend.
