Additional Safeguarding: Vulnerabilities of Children with SEND
Venue: Online
Date: 22 Feb 2023
Synopsis: This one-day virtual masterclass will support you to identify additional safeguarding concerns when working with pupils with SEND, so that you are able to take the right action at the right time.
Details:
Children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities face an increased risk of abuse and neglect. To effectively safeguard children with SEND, it is critical that you can identify these children’s individual needs, strengths and difficulties.
Join us for this one-day Masterclass for an in-depth look at this complex topic, so that you can understand how to identify which pupils are the most vulnerable in your setting and how to work with these children to identify their additional safeguarding risks. You will also consider your responsibilities under the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
Through the day Sara will talk in details about the key safeguarding issues facing pupils, including, but not limited to; attendance issues, mental health, child on child abuse, domestic abuse, honour based abuse and CSE. You’ll leave the day with a better understanding of these issues and how children with SEND are more vulnerable to them.
You will also be guided by Sara on the importance of multi-agency working and how you can take action in your school to improve in this area.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Designated Safeguarding Leads, Deputy DSLs, SENCOs, Assistant and Deputy Heads and any other staff with a focus on safeguarding and children with SEND.
