Synopsis: This national conference provides a practical guide to advancing IV therapy including developing competence, quality and safety in IV therapy practice including the setting up and development of effective Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) Service and clinics to provide therapy at home and in the community.

Details:
The conference opens with a national update on IV therapy followed by a session focusing on developing and maintaining competence in IV therapy skills. The issue of ensuring safe and effective IV therapy practice will cover an update from the UK OPAT Initiative and a focus on reducing infections and bcomplications related to intravenous devices. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear extended sessions focusing on how delivering IV Therapy at home (OPAT) is increasing due to shift in focus from hospital to community care and the impact on quality and productivity this brings.
