Synopsis: The course will provide practical insights into how good Sixth Forms work, the best way to support senior staff, the context of teamwork and effective ways to interact with students, staff and other stakeholders including parents.

Effective sixth forms will have a clear vision, values and ethos and it is important that these are maintained and built upon. Sixth formers are key role models for younger students in schools and involving students alongside staff in reviewing and refining these via organisations such as school councils or pupil parliaments will help to develop a sense of ownership and strengthen relationships. Understanding how sixth forms work and more importantly how sixth form students operate is a key component for maximising their potential and educational outcomes. This practical training course provides Sixth Form Administrators (or those with administration duties within their Sixth Form provision) with the essential knowledge and skills to make a significant contribution to the success, character and efficiency of an effective Sixth Form in their school or college.
