The National Homelessness Event 2023

Venue: ONLINE

Date: 20 Jun 2023

Synopsis: Join us at The National Homelessness Event 2023: Working Collaboratively to Improve Homelessness Services to hear the latest updates and guidance from leading experts and those working at the forefront of preventing homelessness and rough sleeping throughout the nation.

Details:

In September 2022, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) published its cross-government strategy, ‘Ending Rough Sleeping for Good’. It illustrated the national context of rough sleeping in the UK and called for the government and key national and local stakeholders to work together to combat the nation’s homelessness crisis through partnership working and preventative measures. With the cost of living continuing to rise, it is now more essential than ever to ensure that people experiencing or at risk of homelessness receive robust, joined-up support. While Crisis’s 2022 Homeless Monitor showed that rough sleeping in the UK had decreased by 33% over the past three years, it is important local services continue to build upon successes. Through sharing best practice, those in the public and voluntary sectors can work together to develop new prevention strategies and provide resources and support for those experiencing homelessness.

  • Between January and March 2022, 74,230 UK households were found to be homeless or threatened by homelessness, an 11% increase from the previous year according to DLUHC
  • Over 120,000 children and young people in the UK are homeless, according to Action for Children
  • 2022 Survey from Homelessness Link indicates that 82% of homeless respondents had a mental health diagnosis
