Delivering A Paperless NHS: Electronic Patient Records
Venue: ICO Conference Centre
22 Berners Street
Date: 11 Mar 2014
Synopsis: Through case studies of experienced implementers and national updates, this conference focuses on implementing and developing electronic patient records to deliver the government recommendation of a paperless NHS by 2018.
"There must be total commitment to ensuring that interaction is paperless, and that, with a patient’s consent, their full medical history can follow them around the system seamlessly…Most systems won’t necessarily need to be replaced, just updated or adapted so they can talk with each other. A thousand different local solutions linking together using common standards…That the right sort of technology, used in the right way, can release billions of pounds to be re-invested in better, safer care – and millions of hours of staff time for better patient care.†Jeremy Hunt, Health Secretary 15 January 2013 “Our vision is for a fully integrated digital patient record across all care settings by 2018†SAFER HOSPITALS, SAFER WARDS: ACHIEVING AN INTEGRATED DIGITAL CARE RECORD, NHS England 2013
