Domestic homicide reviews are a critical process aimed at identifying lessons learnt to prevent future tragedies and inform multi-agency responses to domestic violence related homicides.

Our Managing a Domestic Homicide Review online training course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of how to manage a domestic homicide review (DHR) in line with the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act. You will gain best practice and learn the practical steps involved in conducting a thorough and effective DHR.

This course will outline the legal framework surrounding a DHR, highlighting the key stages, preventative measures and escalation of risk; learning how to apply tools such as DASH risk assessment, among others.

We will discuss the importance of safeguarding and trauma-informed approaches in DHRs, developing strategies for cooperation and communication across agencies.

Led by our specialist safeguarding trainer, Deborah Barnett, we will cover the statutory guidelines of a managing a DHR and the required duties. Explore practical case studies and the latest research to ensure your reports are functional and fit for purpose.

Trainer

Deborah Barnett is a published author of articles and books relating to safeguarding adults and self-neglect / hoarding. Deborah is the independent chair and author of Safeguarding Adult Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews and provides Safeguarding Adults Boards with consultancy services. Deborah is qualified to act as an expert practitioner in equality and diversity for court purposes, qualified as a social worker, teacher and manager and has also worked as a Multi-Agency Risk Assessment (MARAC) Chair. Training and consultancy are services that Deborah provides.

Human Rights, ethical consideration and evidence-based decision making are central to Deborah’s practice.
